Description
The DEWALT XTREME 12V MAX oscillating tool is designed for contractors, remodelers, carpenters, and DIY users who need a versatile cordless tool for cutting, trimming, sanding, and surface preparation. Model DCS353B combines a compact body with a brushless motor, making it useful for work in tight spaces and around detailed projects. Its cordless design helps you move between rooms, workstations, and jobsite areas without managing an extension cord.
Compact Power for Everyday Projects
The DEWALT XTREME 12V MAX oscillating tool delivers up to 18,000 oscillations per minute (OPM), with a 3.2-degree oscillation angle. This supports a variety of tasks, including plunge-cutting openings, trimming wood and floorboards, sanding furniture, and removing rust from suitable surfaces. The brushless motor helps provide efficient performance in a compact design.
Its variable-speed trigger lets you adjust the operating speed to suit the material and accessory. Lower speeds can help with controlled finishing, while higher speeds may support faster cutting when the accessory and material allow. Always follow the accessory manufacturer’s recommended operating limits and test your setup on scrap material before working on visible surfaces.
Quick-Change Accessories and Improved Visibility
The Quick-Change accessory system allows users to replace compatible blades and attachments without a separate wrench. A universal accessory adapter also supports compatibility with many oscillating-tool accessory brands. Check the attachment requirements before fitting accessories, as compatibility can vary by design.
An integrated LED light illuminates the work area, helping you see the cut line in cabinets, corners, and dimly lit spaces. The trigger lock feature provides convenient on/off control, while the compact design makes the tool easier to maneuver during detailed tasks. These features support everyday remodeling, maintenance, and finishing work.
Applications Around the Home and Jobsite
This oscillating tool can help cut openings in suitable wood panels, trim flooring, shorten small components, remove old grout with an appropriate accessory, and sand corners that larger sanders cannot easily reach. It can also assist with selected metal-cutting tasks when you use a blade specifically designed for the material. Performance depends on the accessory, workpiece, and cutting technique.
The DCS353B tool-only package includes the oscillating tool, one wood-cutting blade, one wood-and-metal blade, and one universal accessory adapter. It does not include a battery or charger. The tool operates on DEWALT’s 12V MAX battery platform and is compatible with its 12V MAX batteries and chargers.
If you prefer a complete package, DEWALT also offers the DCS353G1 kit. It includes the tool, a 3.0Ah battery, charger, two blades, a universal adapter, and a kit bag. Check the exact SKU and seller’s package details before ordering so you receive the accessories you need.
For verified specifications and operating instructions, visit DEWALT’s official DCS353B product page, review the DCS353G1 kit page, and explore the manufacturer’s 12V MAX tool platform.
Work Safely and Maintain Your Tool
Before use, inspect the tool, battery, blade, and attachment for damage. Secure the workpiece and check for hidden electrical wires or plumbing before cutting into walls or floors. Wear suitable eye, hearing, and respiratory protection, especially when sanding or cutting dusty materials. Remove the battery before changing accessories or performing maintenance.
