Description
The Milwaukee M18 FUEL random orbital polisher gives automotive detailers and paint correction professionals cordless freedom for polishing and restoring vehicle finishes. Model 2684-20 combines an 18V brushless motor with a 15mm orbit and a 5-inch backing plate. Its adjustable speed settings help users manage different polishing stages, from refining paintwork to correcting suitable surface defects.
Powerful Cordless Polishing Performance
Milwaukee designed this random orbital polisher for demanding detailing and heavy paint correction applications. Its M18 FUEL technology combines a brushless motor with electronic control to help maintain speed under load. The cordless design removes power cords from the work area, giving detailers more flexibility around vehicles, workshops, and mobile service locations.
The 15mm orbit provides a balance between polishing coverage and control. It supports a range of paint correction tasks when paired with suitable pads and compounds. Choose the correct polishing combination for the finish, and test it on an inconspicuous area before treating the entire surface.
Adjustable Speed and Greater Control
The polisher features an eight-position speed dial with settings ranging from 2,650 to 5,100 revolutions per minute. Its variable-speed trigger provides additional control, allowing users to adjust operation to the pad, compound, and task. A trigger lock-on button helps reduce finger fatigue during longer polishing sessions.
The electronic motor feedback system helps maintain speed when polishing pressure changes. An ergonomic design and optimized center of balance support handling during extended work. The tool also provides approximately 2.21 inches of battery clearance, helping reduce the risk of battery contact with vehicle surfaces when users operate it correctly.
Designed for Professional Detailing
The 5-inch backing plate supports compatible polishing pads for paint refinement and defect correction. Use appropriate pads and compounds for the vehicle’s paint condition, and avoid excessive pressure or prolonged polishing in one area. These practices help control heat and reduce the risk of damaging the finish.
The M18 FUEL platform supports compatibility with Milwaukee M18 REDLITHIUM batteries and chargers. Milwaukee recommends pairing the polisher with an M18 REDLITHIUM HIGH OUTPUT XC6.0 battery for demanding polishing applications. Runtime depends on battery capacity, surface condition, polishing pressure, and the selected speed.
