Description
The DEWALT 20V MAX POWER DETECT XR combo kit brings together a powerful hammer drill and a compact impact driver for demanding construction, renovation, and installation projects. Designed for contractors, electricians, carpenters, and experienced DIY users, this two-tool set supports drilling, fastening, and suitable masonry applications. Its cordless design helps you move around the workshop or jobsite without managing a power cord.
Features of the DEWALT POWER DETECT XR Combo Kit
The kit includes the DCD998 1/2-inch brushless hammer drill/driver and the DCF887 1/4-inch brushless impact driver. Each tool serves a different purpose, giving you flexibility when switching between drilling holes and driving compatible screws or fasteners.
The DCD998 features POWER DETECT technology, which recognizes the connected battery and adjusts tool output accordingly. DEWALT states that the drill can deliver up to 29% more power when paired with a compatible high-capacity battery compared with its predecessor under specified test conditions. Its three-speed, all-metal transmission supports different drilling tasks, while the heavy-duty 1/2-inch ratcheting chuck grips compatible bits securely.
Hammer Drilling and Fastening Performance
The hammer drill supports drilling into wood, metal, and suitable masonry when you use the correct bit and operating mode. Its three-speed transmission helps you select a suitable speed for the material and application. The three-position LED light includes a spotlight mode with a 20-minute shutoff function, helping illuminate work areas with limited visibility.
The DCF887 impact driver offers a compact design for fastening in restricted spaces. It delivers up to 1,825 inch-pounds of torque, with three speed settings and a variable-speed trigger for control. Its 1/4-inch quick-release hex chuck accepts compatible hex-shank driver bits, making it useful for screw installation, assembly, and many routine jobsite fastening tasks.
Batteries and Included Accessories
The DCK299D1W1 kit includes:
- One DCD998 20V MAX XR hammer drill/driver with POWER DETECT technology
- One DCF887 20V MAX XR impact driver
- One 20V MAX 8.0Ah lithium-ion battery
- One 20V MAX 2.0Ah compact battery
- One compatible fast charger
- One carrying bag
The two battery capacities let you choose between longer runtime and a lighter setup, depending on the task. Confirm the package contents against your seller listing before ordering, as similar DEWALT combo kits can contain different tools or battery configurations.
For official specifications and manuals, visit the DEWALT POWER DETECT combo kit product page. You can also browse the DEWALT hammer drill collection to compare compatible drilling tools.
Practical Applications and Safe Use
Use the hammer drill for suitable pilot holes, drilling, and compatible masonry work, then switch to the impact driver for appropriate fastening tasks. Select bits and accessories rated for the material, and secure the workpiece before operating either tool. For demanding concrete drilling, assess whether a dedicated rotary hammer is more suitable.
Wear appropriate eye and hearing protection, keep hands clear of rotating components, and remove the battery before changing bits or servicing the tools. Inspect batteries and accessories regularly, and follow the manufacturer’s instructions for charging, storage, and operation.
Choose the DEWALT 20V MAX POWER DETECT XR combo kit when your projects require versatile cordless drilling and fastening tools. Visit Prime Edge Tool Kits to review the product listing, confirm the DCK299D1W1 model and included accessories, and place your order. Check battery compatibility and package details before checkout so the kit suits your everyday work requirements.
